The checkout is the workload that matters
A store is not adequately described by its homepage speed or number of products. Logged-in activity, carts, payment handoffs and order writes can behave differently from cacheable public pages. When considering Cloudways, identify the functions that must keep working and the representative demand they face. A marketing claim about visits or websites does not establish the capacity or business continuity of your specific WooCommerce configuration.
Make order preservation explicit
Staging and backups are useful controls, but restoring an older database or pushing staging data can affect newer transactions. Before any migration or substantial update, decide how orders arriving during the change will be handled. Identify the system of record and who can reconcile it. Do not treat a full database replacement as a routine way to publish a visual change merely because the interface makes both operations available.
A worked acceptance scenario
For a fictional store, the acceptance plan could include browsing a product, changing cart quantity, calculating the intended delivery options and completing an authorized test payment through the payment provider’s supported test arrangement. Confirm the resulting order and notification without using real customer details. This is a planning example, not a test we performed on Cloudways, and it is not permission to run transactions on a live store.
Choose support and recovery around the business
Record which issues the host handles and which remain with the store developer, plugin vendor or payment provider. Compare current hosting configurations using the same workload and recovery needs. A busy store may justify more resources or separation from other clients, but no universal size recommendation follows from this guide. Complete the order-cutover and capacity worksheets before committing to a hosting move that could affect revenue-bearing operations.
